Former CMS student and 2020 William Allen High School graduate, Sammi Ciommo, designed and installed the native plant garden at CMS.  Sammi created the garden in 2019 as part of her Girl Scout Gold Award Project. The plants were donated by BB&T now Truist with assistance from Edge of the Woods Native Plant Nursery. Sammi also conducted an “eco brick” building event. An eco brick is a strong plastic bottle filled completely with clean dry plastic to a certain density. It helps us utilize our resources with minimal waste processing and keeps plastic out of the environment. These bricks will be used to build a bench in the native plant garden at CMS.

Please Take the Survey to let us know what you think of the native plant garden and if you would be interested in helping maintain it in the future.

Sammi Ciommo receives Girl Scout Gold Award in Outdoor Ceremony black background gold balloons holding certificate

May 2021 – Sammi received her award with a “drive-thru” pinning ceremony at Camp Laughing Waters in Gilbertsville. Sammi also just finished her first year at Kutztown University.

The Gold Award is the highest achievement within the Girl Scouts of the USA.  Seniors and Ambassador Girl Scouts who earn the Gold Award tackle issues that are dear to them and drive lasting change in their communities and beyond.  Only 5.4% of eligible Girl Scouts successfully earn the Gold Award.  Congratulations, Sammi!
