We are pleased to announce that Dan DeChellis has joined our distinguished piano faculty.  Dan began teaching piano and composition here at CMS on Monday this week. Dan holds a M.M. in Piano Performance from Duquesne University, a B.M. in Piano Performance from Appalachian State University in Boone, NC, and completed Contemporary Improvisation Studies at New England Conservatory in Boston.

Dan was drawn to the piano by the music of Scott Joplin. At the age of 7, he asked his parents to buy him a piano, a small spinet that he still has. They said they would buy it if he promised to take lessons until he moved out, and so he did. At the age of 7, a career had been decided. For 40+ years, piano / music has been his focus. He earned a Master’s in Classical Piano, and during his graduate work, he also played jazz and began improvising on stage. Dan has released over 25 CDs of original music and recorded many sessions for others. He continues an active recording, teaching and performing schedule.

Welcome, Dan!  Learn more about Dan DeChellis.
