We congratulate two of our students who have been selected for the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association (PMEA) District 10 and Region V ensembles!
Naomi Herrera, voice, participated as an Alto 1 in the District 10 Chorus Festival at Berks Catholic High School in Reading, PA on January 8 & 9, 2026. A senior at William Allen High School, Naomi is the first WAHS student in over 10 years to qualify for the District 10 Chorus. She, along with over 200 other students from 14 school districts performed the festival concert after two intense days of rehearsals. During the festival, Naomi auditioned for and ranked 9th in her section for the Region V Chorus, which will be held at Warwick High School from February 19-21, 2026. View the WAHS Facebook post here. Here at CMS, Naomi studies voice with Julia Walsh and piano with Kathy Anthony. Congratulations, Naomi!
C.J. Ray, tuba, participated in both PMEA District 10 Orchestra and Band and has advanced to both the Northeast Region Orchestra and Region V Band. At the District Band festival on February 5-7, 2026 at Twin Valley High School, C.J. was first chair tuba. He also qualified as a Tenor 2 in the District 10 Chorus, but was unable to attend the festival. C.J. is a senior at Parkland High School and a tuba student of Matthew Blanchard here at CMS. Congratulations, C.J.!
If there are other students who participated in Districts, Regionals, or any of the ‘Fests, please email lisa@cmslv.org so that we can include them in a future newsletter.
