Matthew Brandle, a piano and voice student of CMS teacher Kathy Anthony, performed the lead role of “Uncle Fester” in Moravian Academy’s production of “The Addams Family: A New Musical Comedy.”  The show ran from March 1-3, 2024, and was sold out on opening night.

Matthew was thrilled to be selected as “Uncle Fester” and enjoyed the challenge of playing such an exciting and quirky character.  He has always liked “crazy” characters, so at the suggestion of two of his peers, Matthew decided to audition for the role.  He said, “Uncle Fester’s personality is very eccentric and weird, and yet he absolutely embraces that part of himself.  Although his quirks are an absolute staple of his personality and what he is primarily known for, he is a much more rounded character than he appears to be at first glance. He loves his family and takes pride in his lineage, which makes him loyal to a fault.  Overall, I found what I felt to be a nice mixture of all of his best traits, but it did take some time.”

In the musical, “Uncle Fester” also acts as the narrator for the audience.  Matthew enjoyed “occasionally popping in to make sure everyone is caught up and not TOO comfortable.”

We congratulate Matthew on a wonderful performance.  Watch highlights on WFMZ here!
