What a show! We had a fantastic day of music on Sunday, June 1 as we celebrated the end of this exciting school year* and the start of another busy summer here at CMS. Students of all ages and levels performed their selections on piano, violin, flute, guitar, drums, trumpet, trombone, viola, and voice, in three unique lively acts.
Our Modern Band, directed by Joe Wagner, was a highlight of the day with Andrew Colon-Rodriguez on guitar and Jenison Mendez on vocals. They opened the recital with Pride and Joy by S. R. Vaughan, accompanied by teacher Kelly Hooper on piano. Then they closed Act 1 with an energetic performance of Bohemian Rhapsody by Queen, featuring student Alonzo Marte on drums.
At the end of each act, we presented certificates to our students who participated in our Certificate of Musical Achievement Program in Piano: Azah Ahamed, Catalina Ocasio, Diya Soman, Elsia Schmitt, and Naomi Herrera. For any other piano student who participated in the CMA evaluations, we have just mailed you your certificate.
At the end of Act 3, we also recognized two of our graduating high school seniors as they performed in their final CMS recital – – Matthew Brandle on piano and voice, and Liam Ray on trombone. We congratulate them both on their outstanding performances and wish them well as they head off to college!
We thank everyone who attended the recitals and supported our students!
Students who performed should check their email for the private gallery link with photos and videos of the performances. If you did not receive the email, please contact lisa@cmslv.org.
NOTE: Even though June is the end of the school year at many K-12 schools, music lessons at CMS continue throughout the summer. If you have questions about summer vacations, please review our Summer Scheduling Policy.
