It is with great sadness that we share that longtime CMS supporter and Lehigh Valley philanthropic leader, David V. Voellinger, 85, of Bethlehem, passed away on Monday, July 15, 2024, at his home at Moravian Village in Bethlehem. He was the beloved husband of Lona Farr Voellinger.

David served on the CMS Board of Directors and as Board President.  In 2019, he and Lona graciously served as the Honorary Chairs of the CMS Spring Brunch & Silent Auction fundraiser at Lehigh Country Club.

Until his retirement in 2016, David was Vice President for Communications and Human Resources at Farr Associates Consulting, LLC. He earlier served as a language trainer at Global Arena, and as a Commissioned Minister in the Federation of Christian Ministries.  In addition to serving CMS, his non-profit and management experience included serving as Development Director of the Lehigh County Historical Society, Human Resources at the Holiday Hair Companies, VP of Marketing and Church Relations at Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Hospital, Admissions Director at DeSales University, and Trilingual Simultaneous Interpreter.  David also served as chaplain to the Palace of Monaco, in personal service to Their Serene Highnesses, Prince Rainier and Princess Grace of Monaco, and their family.

Another former President of the CMS Board of Directors, Larry Johnson, said of David, “Dave was the most genuine person I have met and will surely be missed dearly by family, friends and the community. In conversations with Dave, the subject of death would occasionally come up, and I will remember how gracefully he spoke of it. He seemed to be right with the world all the time. He was quite a guy!”

We are honored that David’s family has designated Community Music School, along with DeSales University as designated organizations to receive memorial contributions in David’s memory.
