OUTREACH
Community Outreach & Performances
Community Music School has long-established and highly successful outreach programs in the Allentown School District and beyond. However, For the safety of our students and staff, the School has suspended outreach programs during the COVID-19 pandemic. In the past, we have offered Modern Band and drumming circle programs at McKinley Elementary, Central Elementary, and at Casa Guadalupe for both elementary and middle school students. In addition, CMS funds free weekly music therapy for all students at the Mercy School For Special Learning. We have also offered a drumming circle program at Newcomer Academy, which provides intensive English language instruction to students whose families have recently moved to Allentown and speak a language other than English at home.
In past summers, the School has offered Modern Band classes to under-served elementary students through our programs at Christ Lutheran Church & St. Stephen’s Outreach Center. Student performances & musical instrument petting zoos continue to be hits at many community events.
Community Music School can tailor our programs to fit the unique needs, goals, and age ranges of nearly any organization. Our outreach programs include Modern Band, Flutophones for Third Graders, and chorus. CMS teachers are highly trained and sensitive to each student’s individual musical abilities, needs, and pace of learning.
