CMS Program Coordinator and piano teacher, Kelly Hooper led a six-week adult group piano class for our friends at Cancer Support Community of the Greater Lehigh Valley, here at CMS. The program culminated with a Holiday Sing-Along Recital for family and friends in our Dorothy H. Baker Recital Hall. Kelly and CSCGLV members Madelyn, Camilla, Tony, Lisa, Joe, Teresa, Catherine, Angeline, Megan, and Melissa entertained the crowd with traditional holiday songs like Jingle Bells, Away in a Manager, and Carol of the Bells. After the recital, everyone enjoyed light refreshments in the Hess Lounge. We are pleased to continue our partnership with the CSCGLV to bring the healing power of music to those affected by cancer. The students greatly appreciated the opportunity to learn and enjoyed playing piano in the relaxed atmosphere. One student highlighted Kelly’s “enthusiasm, patience, and encouragement that vaporized whatever level of trepidation or self-consciousness a student might feel” as an adult learning piano.
