CMS teacher Clifford Tracy was a contributing artist to “Keep the Funk Alive,” an 8-month musical collaboration with Grammy award-winning French jazz instrumentalist and composer, Philippe Saisse. This project started at the onset of the COVID-19 quarantine and features 20+ musicians across 15+ countries. Saisse initiated the improv and then invited his social media followers to contribute creatively to a new song by uploading parts to the cloud. What began as a simple groove became an effort to build a global cultural artifact, to share a love of music across social media, and to dedicate the song’s positive message to health organizations and first responders. Check out “Keep the Funk Alive” on YouTube. Kudos to Cliff Tracy for his contribution to this impressive collaborative performance – – a true global undertaking amid a global pandemic!
