Allentown, PA (August 20, 2021) – Community Music School (CMS) Lehigh Valley & Berks is pleased to announce the addition of Dr. Annie Rose Tindall-Gibson of Tamaqua to its piano faculty.  Dr. Tindall-Gibson specializes in private piano lessons, piano accompaniment, and performance coaching.

Dr. Tindall-Gibson holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in Piano Performance from the University of South Carolina, where she studied with Joseph Rackers; a Master of Music in Piano Performance from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where she studied with Ian Hobson; and a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance from the Manhattan School of Music, where she studied with Jeffrey Cohen.  Dr. Tindall-Gibson began Suzuki piano lessons at age three and, at the age 12, made her concerto debut with the Farmington Valley Symphony (CT), performing Mozart’s Piano Concerto K. 414.   She has performed around the world, having made her European debut in Prague, Czech Republic, performing the Chopin Scherzo No. 1 at the Betlémská Kaple, as part of a concert commemorating Chopin’s bicentennial.  She has been praised for her poetic musicality, fiery presence at the keyboard, and versatility with repertoire.

Dr. Tindall-Gibson’s extensive skills and repertoire as a collaborative pianist are enhanced by her experience working with vocalists, choirs, and instrumentalists in private performance coaching, ensemble preparation, and adjudication; as well as her training in harpsichord, organ, conducting, and as a vocalist. She enjoys performing the works of Franz Liszt, as well as new music, and has given multiple premieres of chamber works.  Her doctoral dissertation at the University of South Carolina focused on the early piano music of Richard Wagner.

Dr. Tindall-Gibson has taught applied piano lessons, master classes, aural skills sequence, and music appreciation courses, both in-person and online at public universities.  Her experience designing a curriculum for HBCU music education students has enabled her to develop an inclusive pedagogy that accepts and teaches the whole person with love, understanding, and compassion.  She was listed among “Teachers Ranked as Excellent by Their Students,” University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, 2014-16.  By teaching both music majors and non-music majors, she identifies and addresses any learning barriers through a variety of instructional techniques.

In 2021, she relocated from South Carolina to Schuylkill County, PA, and she now serves as the Organist and Director of Music at Allegheny Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mohnton. PA.

Dr. Tindall-Gibson is available for in-person and online private lessons in piano on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Saturdays at Community Music School.  To schedule lessons, visit https://cmslv.org/online-music-lessons/
