Community Music School (CMS) is a non-profit organization which provides quality music education to all interested students, regardless of their age, ability, background, or financial circumstances. CMS employs over 30 professional musicians who provide high-quality private and group instruction to students of all ages and in nearly every instrument and voice, as well as extensive, tuition-free outreach programs that bring music to students in under-served, high-poverty schools.

Administrative Associate/Receptionist - Reading (GoggleWorks) Location

This position requires multitasking; effective customer service skills; accurate data entry and computer skills; professional communications skills; strong administrative skills; an outgoing and positive demeanor; self-motivation and attention to detail; good listening skills; and a passion for the mission of CMS: to provide the best possible music education for all regardless of race, creed, gender, national origin, physical or mental challenge, or financial circumstances.

This is a part-time front desk/administrative position. Total hours will not exceed 16 hours per week. This is an afternoon/evening position, varying between 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm, Monday-Thursday.

The specific job responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
  • Greet and check in/out students and their families, update computerized schedule, process customer payments by cash, check, or credit cards. Answer phones, monitor front door, remotely unlock door.
  • Introduce prospective and newly enrolled students to all that CMS has to offer in music education and performance opportunities.
  • Ensure compliance with CMS administrative policies and procedures.
  • Maintain files and records to ensure all student and financial records are current and accurate. This includes the annual registration forms and any financial aid forms and related documents.
  • Ensure office is locked and secured at the nightly closing time.
  • Monitor student tuition records to ensure timely payment.
  • Complete weekly bank deposit.
Location: GoggleWorks Center for the Arts, Studio 555, 201 Washington Street, Reading, PA 19601
Salary Level: $12 - $14 per hour depending on experience

Approximate Hours Per Week: up to 16 hours per week (this is an afternoon/evening position, approximately 3pm to 7pm, as needed, Monday-Thursday)

This position requires multitasking; effective customer service skills; accurate data entry and computer skills; professional communications skills; strong administrative skills; an outgoing and positive demeanor; self-motivation and attention to detail; good listening skills; and a passion for the mission of CMS: to provide the best possible music education for all regardless of race, creed, gender, national origin, physical or mental challenge, or financial circumstances.

This is a part-time front desk/administrative position and will involve a minimum of 25 hours each week, except in the summer months, when minimum hours may be 20. Total hours will not exceed 30 hours per week. This is an afternoon/evening position, varying between 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm.

The specific job responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
  • Greet and check in/out students and their families, update computerized schedule, process customer payments by cash, check, or credit cards. Answer phones, monitor front door, remotely unlock door.
