Certificate of Achievement in Piano

Application Deadline: Monday, May 6, 2024
CMA Evaluations: Saturday, May 18, 2024, beginning at 2:30 PM

The Community Music School Certificate of Musical Achievement Program in Piano allows students of all levels to demonstrate their yearly progress and set goals by performing two pieces (3-15 minutes) & technical studies for a panel of judges, who provided encouraging comments about their pieces & technique. It is designed to gauge student progress & provide a goal for future years (levels 1-12).

The program was established in 2017 by Dr. Holly Roadfeldt with financial support from the George R. Schermerhorn Family Fund. The family of former CMS Director, George R. Schermerhorn continues to support development of our faculty. Dr. Roadfeldt developed the Certificate of Musical Achievement Pilot Program to provide participating students additional motivation and a sense of accomplishment in their music studies. The pilot focused on piano, with plans to communicate with other Community Music School teachers to expand to other instrumental areas in the future (strings, brass, winds, and voice).

Please note the updated curriculum requirements, effective 12/15/23.
